National Sports Day in Qatar
Observed on the second Tuesday of February, National Sports Day is a holiday in Qatar designed to promote a healthy lifestyle in the country. In December 2011, HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani—the Heir Apparent and the Deputy Emir—decreed that the second Tuesday of February be celebrated as National Sports Day in Qatar. It has been celebrated as a holiday ever since.
