National Take Your Parents To Lunch Day
We think the name of National Take Your Parents to Lunch Day speaks volumes about how it should be celebrated. All a person has to do on this day—a day that falls on a Wednesday in the second full week of October—is to take their parents out to lunch.
That’s all there is to it. It can be as simple or as fancy as a person wants. The only thing they need to worry about is making sure that they take their parents to someplace their parents will like. Someplace that will get them excited and show them that they’re appreciated.
The History of National Take Your Parents to Lunch Day
This holiday was first promoted by Kiwi Magazine. They organized it to encourage students to invite their parents to the school lunch. This allowed parents to visit the school cafeteria and see what type of food their children were eating.
This would hopefully cause school officials, parents, and students to open a dialogue that improved school lunches for the better. As the years have gone by, however, more adults have begun to participate in this holiday as a way to thank their parents for raising them.
Observing National Take Your Parents to Lunch Day
Regardless of whether you’re a student looking to invite your parents to your school cafeteria, or an adult looking to simply take their parents out to a restaurant as a thank-you gift, we’re sure this day is going to be enjoyed by everyone.
We encourage everyone to participate in this holiday and to spread the word about it using the hashtag #TakeYourParentsToLunchDay on social media. Let’s all come together to improve school lunches and to improve communication between parents and students. And let’s all do it while enjoying a nice hot lunch!
