National Write Down Your Story Day
Every single person on the planet has a story about their life, but most people don’t think their personal story would be interesting to anyone else but themselves. However, there is a holiday that encourages people to rethink that notion and actually spend some time writing down their story.
This holiday is known as National Write Your Story Day, and it’s observed every March 14th. The purpose of this holiday is to encourage everyone to write down their life stories—even if they’re doing it just for themselves. Every person has an interesting story to tell if they’ll just take the time to write it.
The History of National Write Your Story Day
This holiday was created in 2017 by Mitzy of the YouTube channel A Mother of Colour. She created this holiday to encourage people to get their stories into the hands of the world. After all, a story that one tells oneself is fine, but a story that’s released into the world can inspire, entertain, and provide hope to someone else.
Observing National Write Your Story Day
This holiday is either the easiest or the hardest holiday to celebrate—depending on how a person feels about writing their life story. Some people are going to be excited about this holiday, and others are going to feel intimidated by the prospect of writing their own life stories. For those who feel intimidated, it’s time to move past that feeling and just start writing about your life. If you can do that, then you’ll be surprised at how quickly the words come.
Anyone who wants to encourage other people to commit their life stories to the proverbial page can do so by using the hashtag #NationalWriteYourStoryDay on social media. People can also share excerpts of their writing with the world using this hashtag. Let’s all get our stories out into the world on this holiday for everyone to enjoy.
