Plush Animal Lover’s Day
Although there are several holidays dedicated to real-life animals, there is only one day dedicated to plush animals—that we know of, that is. This holiday is Plush Animal Lover’s Day, and it’s observed annually on October 28th.
On this day, people can share their love of plush animals with everyone, add new plush animals to their collection, or buy a new plush animal for a friend or family member. Of course, plush animal lovers are also encouraged to spread the word about this holiday worldwide using the hashtag #PlushAnimalLoversDay on social media.
The History of Plush Animal Lover’s Day
Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly when Plush Animal Lover’s Day was invented. We searched every internet archive we could find, and we just couldn’t determine who invented it. We do know that it was invented sometime between 2013 and 2014 because we can’t find any earlier references to it, but we couldn’t find out who invented it.
Random Stuffed Toys Facts
Okay, we were going to do an article on plush animals, but we feel that might be too narrow an approach for this holiday. That’s why we decided to go a little bit broader on the subject and instead list some of the stuffed toy facts that we learned while observing Plush Animal Lover’s Day.
- Throughout history, stuffed toys have been made with straw, cotton, beans, plastic pellets, and a wide variety of other materials.
- The first commercial company to produce stuffed toys was Steiff—a German company that started making these toys in the 19th century.
- Teddy bears were named after U.S. President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt.
- Stuffed animals can get infected by parasites such as fleas and lice, so people should make sure they’re clean and in good condition.
Observing Plush Animal Lover’s Day
All of us who are celebrating this holiday need to take a few moments to decide how to do it. Our suggestion has been for people to spend time with their stuffed animals, buy stuffed animals for loved ones, and have a “tea party” with their plush friends. Another way to celebrate this holiday is by buying and giving a plush animal to a child in need. Now, that sounds like a great way to spend Plush Animal Lover’s Day.
